Join Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County for our first-ever VIRTUAL 5K fun run/roll/stroll to raise money to continue building homes for hardworking families in need.
Everyone deserves to feel safe at home. And everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to call home.
For many families, those who were already struggling with a need for decent and affordable housing, their daily lives have only become more challenging. For others, those who find themselves affected by the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the future is newly uncertain. These are the families who now more than ever need the hand up that we can provide.
It has been a tough time for us all, and many of our summer plans have been altered or canceled. For this fun run, we would like you to have some fun and dress like your favorite thing about summer. Love the beach? Wear floaties and goggles! Into the warm-weather cookout culture? Tie on your best apron and take off! We want this to be an opportunity to raise funds for hardworking, deserving families in need while having some much-needed fun.
For this fundraising event, you can run, walk, or roll (scooters, rollerskates, wheelchairs, strollers, skateboards, bikes, rollerblades, etc.) on your own time, and on the course of your choice. This event can be completed indoors on a treadmill, or outside on a sidewalk, trail, or track, anytime between Friday, August 7, and Sunday, August 30th. This 5K can also be split up into multiple days.
All ages, abilities, and fitness levels are encouraged to participate. Gather your friends, family, and co-workers and see how many people you can get to be on YOUR team! We will call out the teams with the highest members on our Leaderboard page. If you are part of a team and want to go together, please make sure you maintain social distancing of six feet at all times and adhere to your jurisdiction's COVID-19 guidelines.
We would love everyone to share their photos on social media and tag us on Facebook (@wicomicohabitat) and Instagram (wicomico_habitat), and post them on our Leaderboard Page dressed in your summer fun best. Once you complete the virtual race, you can submit your time via email at support@wicomicohabitat.org (this is optional as this is not a competitive race).

Your Health app on your iPhone will track your distance if that is all you are looking for. (One Habitat staffer has used C25K for training for a 5K. If you are looking to get to running a 5K in one go, this app--or a similar Couch-to-5K app--can help you get there).
